A bit about Martin

The mountainous areas of Britain and inparticular the Lake District have been my passion for many years. Originally a holiday destination as a child and later a weekend retreat and family holidays. Walking the Fells has brought a balance to the stresses and hassles of work and modern life. I reccommend to anyone a few days walking when work and other pressures are getting too much.
The appeal of the area has grown over the years so an opportunity to make the area our home was taken and from May 2000 the Lake District has become our home.

Now living in Keswick and running a Guest House with wife Gilly we take every opportunity to get out on the Fells and explore the area.
I am not really a "peak bagger" more of a "wanderer" but having always kept a record of my wanderings the books of Wainwright have been essential reading. One day I will complete the full Wainwright List but not wanting to rush it, as I want something left for later years.

This site is an opportunity to express my passion for the Lake District, its Valleys and Fells and all other aspects of life in the Lakes by publishing some of my many photographs for all to see. Walking routes and other details will be added over the coming months.
Other areas of the world will feature as holidays and trips to other mountainous areas are planned for the future. Already a number of trips have been made to the Alps, Himalaya as well as walking trips to Ireland, Majorca and others.

You will find a section with photographs on the Keswick Mountain Festival which is a project I was involved in for the 2007 and 2008 event. Many good photos of the celebrities of the climbing world that it was my pleasure to meet and work with.
